Since 2025, care, education and activities have been provided in both English and Hungarian.

Our Activities and Approach to Development

Our approach to introducing English to nursery-age children has grown out of decades of experience caring for children from the many bilingual families who attend Malvin-Ház. In a young child’s everyday experience, language is a natural part of communication: they learn that different adults use different words to understand one another. In this way, they pick up another language naturally, often without being aware of it. After just a few months, we can already see Hungarian-speaking children understanding and following the English-speaking educator’s requests and taking part in activities in English.
Our English-speaking educator uses English throughout the day, during everyday care, learning and play.
Alongside this, children continue to develop their Hungarian with our Hungarian-speaking early years educators.

A specialist music teacher visits each week to introduce children to instruments and the world of music. Our activities follow a weekly pattern and are adapted to the children’s ages and the changing seasons. Development is not confined to fixed time slots: we follow the children’s mood and attention span. Taking part is optional; we offer invitations to play rather than directing children. We also value the early identification of any areas where a child may need extra support, so a special education professional can assess children when needed.

Our Professional Approach

At Malvin-Ház Family Nursery, we are committed to providing high-quality care for families with young children, drawing on more than 20 years of professional childcare experience. Alongside our qualified staff, our facilities and equipment are tailored to the needs of each age group. We provide four meals a day, partly through a catering company and partly prepared by us, taking children’s ages into account and ensuring a supply of the vitamins and minerals essential for physical development.

Our Year-Round Programme

Settling In and Everyday Hygiene

When a new child joins us, we start by helping them get to know their carers and the other children. They then become familiar with their own symbol, place and bed, as well as the routines and rules for playing and spending time together.
We also establish mealtime routines and learn how to set the table and use cutlery, napkins and serving plates.

Toilet Learning and Independence

Children learn to use soap, towels and a comb. As they become ready for toilet learning, they practise pulling their clothes up and down and using toilet paper. Tidying up together several times a day also helps them develop independence.

Indoor Activities

Our indoor activities include building, pretend play, imitation games and table-top games that develop hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. Our wide range of toys includes a Montessori stacking tower and craft materials. We have puppet shows and projected picture stories every week. Looking at picture books together, children learn about domestic and wild animals, their young, habitats and sounds, as well as basic colours and shapes.

Active Play

Jumping on soft mats and throwing balls into a basket
Movement games with songs and dancing to children’s music
Crawling tunnels and a seesaw

In winter: snowball play, sledging and building snowmen
